Academic life

Boys study a broad curriculum throughout their time in the junior school. In rushmere (years 3 and 4) they are taught by their form teacher for the majority of their subjects. They have specialist teachers for Art, Music and Sport. In priory (years 5-8) boys are taught by specialist subject teachers throughout. They begin French in year 5 and Latin in year 6. They are set for French and Mathematics from year 6 and for Latin from year 7. New boys who join in years 6 or 7 and have not studied French or Latin are placed in small beginners sets where they follow an accelerated course. In years 7 and 8 boys are prepared for the transfer examination to the senior school and we expect all boys to achieve the standard required and move smoothly to the next stage of their King's education.
