Co-curricular activities (CCAs) play a key role in a student's life at King's. The standard of music is exceptional; with orchestras, a chamber choir, wind band, jazz and classical ensembles, it is not surprising that music draws in so many boys and girls. The emphasis, as elsewhere at King's, is on variety, inclusion and encouragement.
Leading drama productions regularly receive excellent reviews, including at the Edinburgh Fringe, but there is a wide range of school and house plays for boys and girls of all ages and talents. As well as the main theatre with its own theatre manager, there is a drama studio for smaller productions. Art and design also flourish, based in the modern, purpose-built Reeve School.
Sport at King's is renowned - not just for success in major sports, but the breadth of choice available to all pupils. There are inter-school fixtures for boys and girls of all abilities - not just for the most able.
New staff and parents are always impressed by the way sixth formers continue their commitment to their life beyond the classroom so enthusiastically, whether it be for drama, music, sport, community projects, the CCF, the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme, or one of the other activities available.
"Through sport, CCAs and drama I've made so many good mates and enjoyed so many hard-fought victories, but also shared defeat with my colleagues. Both were memories to treasure." (Upper sixth leaver)
